ASHAs, CHOs oriented on oral health in Phek

National Oral Health Programme (NOHP) Phek conducted a training on “orientation of oral health and managing dental emergencies” for Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and community health officers (CHOs) under Phek Sadar on Friday, in the Dr. Wethselo T. Mero Memorial hall of District Hospital (DH) Phek.
In a press release, NHM Phek, district media officer (DMO), Kutolu Nakro stated that during the programme, resource person, DH Phek senior dental surgeon Dr. Nichukholie Vupru highlighted the importance of oral health and its influence on other parts of the body.
Basic oral health care methods and healthy food habits were also deliberated and awareness on prevention of common oral health problems was discussed.
Managing of dental emergencies at grassroots level by the health workers was emphasised while the role played by healthcare workers in providing first level services of early detection, screening and management of common dental diseases including dental emergencies was impressed upon the members in the training.
