ASHAs trained on paediatric care at Chiephobozou

A training on paediatric care in COVID-19 related issues was organised for Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) of Chiephobozou block August 24 at Chiephobozou Community Health Centre (CHC) by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kohima along with District Health Society, NHM.

A press release by CMO Kohima office stated that resource persons for the training were MO (paediatrician) Dr. Akatoli Angto and MO Chiephobozou CHC Dr. Kekhrieneizo Peseyie. 

Dr. Akatoli demonstrated on how to handle COVID-19 related cases in children and also briefed the ASHAs on the paediatric care relating the approach of Integrated Management of Neonatal and Childhood illness (IMNCI).

She also spoke on the major components on the preparedness and management of any sudden surge of COVID-19 care. The ASHAs were also trained on the danger signs, surveillance, signs and symptoms of COVID-19 in paediatric age group, prevailing myths conception of COVID-19 in children and were also informed about the roles and responsibilities in the ward, colonies and community. 

Dr. Kekhrieneizo demonstrated the used of pulse oximeter and IR thermometer and distributed the same to all ASHAs present in the training. 

DSO Dr. Kevilhoulie Meyase informed the ASHAs on the importance of malaria slide test and pointed out the differences of SARI/ILI reporting system.
