Assam CM hands over 50 motorcycles to police personnel

Guwahati, Oct 4 (PTI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday handed over motorcycles provided by Hero MotoCorp to the Assam Police, with the aim of strengthening traffic management, patrolling and emergency response mechanisms.
Fifty motorcycles were given by the company under its ‘Ride Safe India’ CSR initiative, a release by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said. During the programme in Janata Bhawan complex, the chief minister also rode a motorcycle wearing a helmet within the premises.
The 440-cc motorcycles handed over to the Assam Police will enable personnel to move more easily and swiftly through congested roads and enhance the effectiveness of patrolling, traffic management and law enforcement, it said.
The two-wheelers will also play an important role in ensuring faster police response to road accidents, traffic congestion and other emergency situations, the CMO release said.
The motorcycles also feature Assam Police logos and branding.
