Assam, Nagaland hold border talks

DIMAPUR, JUL 10 (NPN): A deputy commissioner-level border coordination meeting between Jorhat district, Assam, and Mokokchung district was held at the ADC Conference Hall, Mangkolemba, on Friday, where both sides reviewed border-related issues and agreed on measures to maintain peace and coordination.
According to an official release, both districts reaffirmed strict adherence to the status quo at Aosenden village as decided during the Chief Secretary-level meeting held on July 31, 2021. Both sides also agreed to refrain from any activity or new construction that violates the existing arrangement.
Regarding Aokum village, it was decided that the concerned Border Magistrates from both sides would conduct a joint verification of the area within seven days.
The two district administrations also agreed to strengthen coordination and response mechanisms to maintain tranquillity along the border. They resolved to ensure regular communication and promptly share details of newly transferred Border Magistrates and police officers to maintain continuity and close coordination.
Further, both sides agreed on prior intimation for all official border visits and activities and resolved to take local sensitivities, including Sunday observance in Nagaland, into account while planning official engagements.
