Assam Rifles boosts youth empowerment

DIMAPUR

Assam Rifles has launched a series of impactful initiatives across Nagaland aimed at youth empowerment, education, and social awareness.
In a landmark collaboration, Assam Rifles signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Axis Bank and NIEDO (National Integrity and Educational Development Organisation) to establish the Hav Mering Ao, SC (Retd) Centre of Excellence and Wellness at Ungma, Mokokchung. Named in honour of one of Nagaland’s most revered soldiers, the centre will offer free residential coaching, mentorship, and wellness programmes to 30 students—including 21 girls and 9 boys—preparing them for NEET, engineering entrance exams, and career development. The MoU was signed in the presence of DIG Assam Rifles.
In another outreach effort, Assam Rifles conducted an awareness lecture on drug abuse and illicit trafficking at Kiepeujang village, Peren district. The session addressed the physical, psychological, and social consequences of substance abuse, with emphasis on peer pressure, unemployment, and lack of awareness. The event saw active participation from local youth and community members.
Furthering its commitment to child safety, Assam Rifles joined Project MAVENO: The Warrior at Christian Mission Higher Secondary School, Phek. The initiative, supported by Phek Police, Sakhi Centre, District Hospital, Mothers Welfare Society, and other NGOs, featured sessions on self-defence, first aid, adolescent health, cyber safety, and legal awareness. Assam Rifles instructors led self-defence modules in Taekwondo, Karate, and basic unarmed combat.
