Assam Rifles Battalion under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General of Assam Rifles- North (IGAR-N) dedicated rostrum and football ground, conducted awareness programmes, plantation and cleanliness drives, meetings and provided assistance to villagers across the state.
Oting village: Assam Rifles dedicated rostrum and football ground to village authorities and people of Oting village, Mon district on April17.
Youths present during the event were made aware about free recruitment training provided by Assam Rifles and were further motivated to join the same.
Ngwalwa village: Assam Rifles battalion conducted awareness campaign on “Waste management and disposal” on April 15 at Ngwalwa Village, Peren. Villagers and youth were briefed on how government is accelerating the efforts to achieve universal sanitation coverage and to put the focus on sanitation.
They were also briefed on solid and liquid waste management in the area and how clean surroundings can add up to lessening diseases. The importance of planting trees at individual level were also imparted. Around 18 villagers participated in the programme.
Peren district: Assam Rifles battalion conducted an awareness campaign for women across multiple locations in Peren district on April 15. Lectures were conducted to spread awareness among women and villagers on how women’s empowerment equips and allows women to make life-determining decisions through the different societal problems.
The villagers were also briefed about economic development and sustainable employment opportunities through various schemes and programmes of the government and the opportunities for girls in education centres and further in career growth.
The lectures also covered the career opportunities in Armed Forces and various entry schemes into Sainik Schools and further into National Defence Academy. A total of 44 villagers attended the lecture.
