Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) has been conducting various activities for the welfare of the public across the state.
Kiphire battalion: Kiphire battalion of Assam Rifled on August 29 organised a medical camp at Akhegwo village, Phek to provide medical assistance to locals.
According to PRO HQ IGAR (N), villagers were also sensitised on the relevance of personal hygiene, sanitation, COVID-19 SOPs, etc.
Altogether, 65 villagers availed the medical facilities provided by the battalion.
Meanwhile, Kiphire battalion assisted the public works department (PWD), Pungro division, from August 18-25 in clearing a landslide at Pungro-Longkhimong village, Kiphire.
According to PRO IGAR (N), a major portion of the landmass above Pungro-Mimi fell down close to Longkhimong village on August 17, which caused blockade of movements at border villages.
Assam Rifles responded to the call of the village council of Longkhimong to assist in opening the road and liaised with PWD for JCB.
The work which was supervised by Kiphire battalion also included clearing of Hume pipe.
With combined efforts of the villagers, PWD Pungro division and Assam Rifles, the road was cleared in seven days.
Shamator battalion: Shamator battalion organised a medical camp at Waphar, Tuensang on August 29.
PRO said that Waphar village requested Assam Rifles to conduct a medical camp in view of the spread of endemic diseases such as scrub typhus, viral fever etc. affecting the locals.
Altogether, 130 villagers were provided with consultation and medicines in the camp.
