DIMAPUR: Assam Rifles observed World Youth Skills Day on July 15 by organising awareness and outreach programmes at Avangkhu, Meluri and Naginimora, reaffirming its commitment towards youth empowerment, skill development and community engagement.
The programmes witnessed participation from village representatives, teachers, women leaders, youth and students. More than 20 villagers attended at Avangkhu, while 51 students and five teachers joined the programme at Naginimora.
Participants were sensitised on opportunities for joining the Armed Forces and the forthcoming Nagaland Police recruitment process, including eligibility criteria, physical standards and preparation methods. Informative sessions were also held on vocational training, entrepreneurship, digital literacy, financial awareness, self employment and modern farming practices aimed at enhancing livelihood prospects. Students and youth were encouraged to identify their talents, pursue skill based education and develop competencies required in today’s competitive environment.
The interactive programmes saw active discussions on employment generation, skill enhancement and career planning. Participants appreciated the practical guidance and meaningful engagement, which highlighted Assam Rifles’ continued efforts to inspire the younger generation, promote self reliance and contribute to socio economic development of border areas while strengthening bonds with local communities.
On July 17, Assam Rifles also conducted a special “Rubaru” session for families of serving troops at Jalukie, Peren district. The initiative, themed “Creative Minds, Compassionate Hearts” (Shabdon ka Sparsh – Jo Chot Bhi Dein Aur Marham Bhi Bane), focused on the power of emotional expression and supportive communication in military families.
Organised by Dr. Vandini Setia, the session aimed at strengthening emotional well being, recognising the resilience of families and equipping them with psychological tools to cope with challenges of military life. The event featured open forum discussions and creative exercises where participants shared experiences and insights on fostering empathy and deeper understanding within households.
Families expressed gratitude to Assam Rifles for organising such a thoughtful and impactful welfare initiative. The session underscored the force’s commitment to holistic well being, mental health and morale of troops and their loved ones, fostering a unified and resilient community.
