Assam Rifles under the aegis Headquarters Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North) conducted workshop, medical camp and tree plantation drive.
Ghaspani Bn: Ghaspani battalion of Assam Rifles organised a tree plantation drive as part of the clean and green Nagaland initiative of Assam Rifles on September 25 at Pherima village, Dimapur.
A press release by Assam Rifles stated that the event was attended by union minister of tourism, culture and DoNER, government of India, G Kishan Reddy along with ministers and officials from state government.
The event witnessed active participation including government dignitaries, civil administrative officials, local people, students, teachers and troops of Assam Rifles.
Jalukie Bn: A workshop on solid waste management was organised by Jalukie battalion of Assam Rifles in collaboration with Pro Rural Society on September 24 at Jalukie and Peren Town.
A press release by Assam Rifles stated that the objective of the workshop was to provide learning to the locals regarding the solid waste and its management.
During the lecture-cum-demonstration, the participants were informed that on a daily basis, a human being produces approximately 750 grams of solid waste, which was hampering the environment.
The participants were highlighted about the “zero litter lifestyle campaign” and were motivated to recycle items. A demonstration on vermin-compost was also carried out wherein participants were taught to transform kitchen waste into fertilisers.
Kohima Bn: Kohima battalion of Assam Rifles organised free medical camp on September 25 at North Kikruma village, Phek. In a press release Assam Rifles stated that villagers were treated and advised as per their ailment.
Shamatore Bn: A medical camp-cum-Scrub Typhus awareness lecture at Langnok village, Noklak was organised by Shamatore battalion on September 26. The main objective of conducting the medical camp was to reach out to the people of the remote areas and establish faith and build cordial relations with locals.
A total of 63 villagers including 27 males and 36 females benefitted from the medical camp.
The battalion also observed World Contraception Day at Shamatore town, Tuensang on the same day.
The event was focused at creating awareness amongst local population regarding importance of contraception focused for women’s health. The awareness was carried out to raise awareness on existing modern contraception methods with an aim to increase understanding of contraceptive usefulness in fight against Sexually transmitted infections like HIV, unwanted pregnancies which not only leads to high risk abortions and maternal mortality
A lecture-cum-demonstration was delivered by 2IC Jacob, CMO Shamatore battalion on use of contraceptive kit, its advantages, prevention with major focus on women’s health issues.
