Kiphire and Zunheboto battalions of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) have been conducting various activities to enrich the lives of the public of the state.
AR constructs Bore-Well: Kiphire battalion of Assam Rifles constructed water supply scheme (bore-well) which was inaugurated by commandant 7 Assam Rifles, colonel, Veerandra Tiwari at Akhegwo village under Phek district on April 16.
According to PRO, HQ IGAR (N), the aim of the water supply scheme, (bore-well) was to overcome water shortage for the people of Akhegwo village. The project was handed over to village administration in the presence of GBs from Akehegwo, New Akhegwo, Kekhekgwo and Longmatre villages.
AR conducts symposium on HIV/AIDS: Zunheboto battalion of Assam Rifles conducted a Symposium on ‘HIV/AIDS Free Nagaland’ and “Career Counselling” in collaboration with Zunheboto Range Students Union (ZRSU) and District Aids Prevention Control Unit (DAPCU) at Zunheboto town hall on April 14.
According to AR PRO, an Assam Rifles medical team led by Captain Abhishekh Sharma along with representatives of DAPCU, nodal officer, Hokishe, delivered a lecture and educated the youth on substance abuse, drugs, alcohol, narcotics, preventive measures and danger of HIV/AIDS.
A lecture on career guidance was also delivered by Major L. C Singh of 5 Assam Rifles to motivate and guide students while highlighting the career options available to them. Pamphlets on ‘HIV/AIDS free environment’ and ‘Join Indian Armed forces’ were also distributed among the students to create awareness. Approximately 1000 students, teachers and members of the public attended the event.
