Various programme was organized by battalion of Assam Rifles (AR) in the month of December.
Chieswema battalion: Chieswema battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) celebrated Christmas at its HQs and the operation bases on December 25.The aim of the event was interaction of the troops and the local populace in a festive and cordial atmosphere. The event included a mass function and interaction with village chairmen and GBs which was followed by distribution of sweets.
Wokha battalion: Wokha Batallion of AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) celebrated Christmas on Wokha on December 25.
The aim of the event was interaction of the troops and the local populace in a festive and cordial atmosphere.
Village chairmen, GBs and prominent personalities of Wokha town participated at the celebration programme.
28 AR: 28 Assam Rifles (AR) under the aegis of 5 Sector Assam Rifles, celebrated Christmas event on December 25, at Battalion HQ, Wokha and all outposts which are deployed across the entire district of Wokha with brilliant colours, joyful sounds and beauty of the winter season. The event commenced with social get together organized at the Battalion HQ, Wokha in which troops and the local populace interacted amongst themselves in a festive and cordial atmosphere. The event was conducted in the true spirit of friendship and brotherhood.
Initially on the 25 Dec 2017, troops belonging to Christian denomination conducted an all faith prayer session at the Battalion church, which was participated by all ranks and civilian staff of the unit. Thereafter, a small get together was organized at battalion headquarters in which village chairman, GBs and prominent personalities of Wokha town participated. Greetings were warmly exchanged and refreshments served to all participants.
Meanwhile, 28 AR also conducted similar programmes at its out posts like Bhandari, Doyang, Tseminyu and Chukitong out posts wherein troops deployed at the out posts carried out various socio-cultural programmes to commemorate the Christmas eve- mega event on the theme, “Peace on earth, goodwill towards men”.
The commemoration focused on bridging the gap between the security forces, village traditional bodies and the local populace with renewed hope, vigour and cordiality.
11 AR: 11Assam Rifles (AR) organized Christmas Day celebration programe in the area of responsibility battalion from December 20 to 25. The celebration was marked with distribution of bibles and wall clocks to all 95 churches in Moreh and nearby areas.
Various ceremonies and interaction programme with the lovals and pastors, at IB location and company operaying bases, Moreh and chuch function was held at unit church, Moreh helipad.
Altogether, 35 locals with pastors attended the event of the unit church. The celebration was inaugurated by officiating commandant, 21C Surendra Kumas RS of the unit.
29 AR: 29 Assam Rifles (AR) located at Joupi celebrated Christmas with the villagers in the area of responsibility of the battalion. Units participated in the mass prayer programme and support the villagers in all possible way for the celebration of the festival. Altogether 130 villagers including children participated at the programme.
