Battalions of Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters of Inspector General of Assam Rifles (IGAR-North) organised various civic action programmes across Nagaland.
Ghaspani battalion: Ghaspani battalion organised a mega plogrun-cum-cleanliness drive at Ghaspani, Nihokhu, Kukidolong, Piphema, Zubza and MS42 under Chümoukedima, Niuland and Kohima districts on October 2.
According to PRO IGAR (N), the drive was organised to emphasise the need to keep surroundings clean.
The events were conducted on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti as part of the “Swatch Bharat Mission:”.
Mokokchung battalion: Mokokchung battalion organised plogrun at Mokokchung town on October 2 as part of the Fit India Movement and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Altogether, 250 participants including officers junior commission officers, warrant officers, other ranks took part in the programme.
Jalukie battalion: Jalukie battalion conducted a mega cleanliness drive at various places under Peren district on October 2.
The drive was organised as part of Gandhi Jayanti to promote a “clean & plastic free environment and dignity of labour’”.
The drive was jointly conducted with CSOs, local youth, women societies and students wherein a total of 430 individuals participated.
Mon battalion: Mon battalion organised a cleanliness drive at Naginimora Garrison with students of Assam Rifles Public School, Mon district.
The students were sensitised on the importance of cleanliness and were encouraged to inculcate “Swachhta” in their lives.
A total of 100 students, teachers and staff of ARPS joined the cleanliness drive.
Tuensang battalion: Tuensang battalion organised “cleanliness drive” as part of “Swachhata Abhiyan” at AOR Mon district on October 2.
The event was organised to spread awareness among the locals and troops on the importance of hygiene and sanitation.
Zunheboto battalion: Zunheboto battalion organised a cleanliness drive as part of “Swachhata Abhiyan” at Zunheboto garrison. The programme was attended by all the troops and over 60 families and children.
The children were sensitised on importance of cleanliness and were encouraged to inculcate “Swachhta” in their lives.
Phek battalion: Phek battalion of Assam Rifles on October 2, organised a “plogrun” as a part of Fit India Movement and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Phek district on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
