Assam Rifles has conducted a free medical camp in Suruhuto town and Surumi village on January 24. Captain Arvinthan, Regimental Medical Officer, conducted both the camps under the supervision of Col. Sachut Suri, CO 5 Assam Rifles, Zunheboto.
Several hundreds of public including children, youth and elders availed the free medical checkups and medicines.
Altogether 382 Surumi patients including 150 male, 95 female and 137 children and 234 patients in Suruhoto town including 80 male, 90 female and 64 children turned up for the camp.
In a related programme, 31 Assam Rifles has conducted free medical camp at Tamlu village in Longleng district on January 20 as a part of Military Civic Action programme.
Altogether 252 patients were checked by the team of doctors and free medicines were distributed. Children were provided de-worming tablets/syrups. The common ailments prevalent in the area were backache, chronic gastritis and upper respiratory infections. Meanwhile, the villagers have appreciated the initiative of Assam Rifles and expressed gratitude for organizing medical camp at their doorstep. Villagers further said if ‘Friends of the hill people’ regularly organize such camp it would go a long way and bring a closer relationship which would sustain peace and prosperity in Nagaland.
