Bamboo Crafting Session with REACHA
In collaboration with REACHA, Assam Rifles organised a bamboo crafting session for students to promote traditional livelihoods and skill-based learning. The programme aimed to sensitise young people to bamboo as an eco-friendly, sustainable resource while reviving traditional craftsmanship among the younger generation. Trained artisans and resource persons demonstrated techniques such as design, cutting, shaping and finishing of bamboo products. Students were given hands-on exposure and encouraged to actively participate, helping them understand the practical utility and economic potential of bamboo-based skills. Assam Rifles personnel also interacted with the students, motivating them to explore skill-based learning alongside formal education. The initiative was well received, with participants expressing enthusiasm for the opportunity to learn a traditional craft in an engaging manner.
Medical Camp at Chümoukedima
Assam Rifles conducted a free medical camp at AK Industrial Village, Chümoukedima district, as part of its ongoing civic action efforts. The camp was attended by 183 villagers of all age groups. A team of medical officers and paramedical staff provided consultations, health check-ups and distributed essential medicines. Special attention was given to women, children and the elderly, addressing common ailments and promoting preventive healthcare. Health awareness sessions were also conducted, educating villagers on hygiene, nutrition, seasonal diseases and general wellness. The initiative was warmly appreciated by the community, who expressed gratitude for the timely medical support and compassionate outreach.
National Integration Tour from Mon to Kaziranga
In Mon district, Assam Rifles flagged off a National Integration Tour for students and teachers from Changlangshu village to Kaziranga National Park, Assam. The contingent comprised 14 students and three teachers. The tour was designed to foster national integration, promote exposure to the country’s cultural and natural heritage, and strengthen the bond between youth and the Armed Forces. As part of the programme, a weapon and equipment display was organised at Jorhat, giving participants first-hand knowledge of the Indian Army’s capabilities. The tour sought to broaden horizons, instil patriotism and encourage unity among young minds from remote areas.
Painting and Rangoli Competitions in Kiphire
To commemorate 150 years of Vande Mataram, Assam Rifles organised painting and rangoli competitions in Thongsonyu and Tukhinkiu villages, Kiphire district, on January 20. The painting competition was held on the theme “Pollution Free, Crime Free India,” while the rangoli competition took place at Kiphire. Over 30 children participated, expressing their creativity and patriotic spirit through vibrant artwork. Assam Rifles personnel interacted with the participants, encouraging them to embrace civic values, environmental stewardship and unity in nation building. A prize distribution ceremony was held to felicitate the winners with certificates and prizes.
Lecture on Women Empowerment at Mokokchung
At Mokokchung, Assam Rifles organised a lecture on women empowerment, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from local women. The lecture was delivered by Mrs. Milan, Secretary of Assam Rifles Ex-servicemen Association, Mokokchung. She spoke on self-confidence, education, skill development, financial independence, health and hygiene, legal awareness, personal safety and the crucial role of women in family and society. The interactive session provided a platform for women to share experiences and challenges, with queries addressed in detail. Participants expressed gratitude for the meaningful programme, which strengthened awareness and motivation to take informed decisions in their personal and professional lives.
