The Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen Association (ARESA) Kohima celebrated its golden jubilee at Kohima Garrison on August 24.
Addressing the occasion, Maj Gen Vikas Lakhera acknowledged that the Assam Rifles at present has changed, stating that the challenges are different and the main objective was to bring people together as “Friends of the Hills People” and reminded that the Assam Rifles were committed to serve the people of the State in all earnestness.
He lauded the members of ARESA for giving their entire service to the Assam Rifles and honoured them as the elders. “We respect your commitment and service to the nation,” he said.
The IGAR(N) also encouraged them by saying that they are the link between the present-day force with the past of the Assam Rifles.
He also assured that Assam Rifles will continue to support the ARESA in its future endeavours.
Later, Maj Gen Lakhera also unveiled the 50th Golden Jubilee Board of ARESA.
ARESA president, Merman Pradhan shared a brief history of ARESA Kohima while family members of Ex-Servicemen enthralled the gathering with songs and dances, while special presentations were made by Yuvraj Thapa, Santoki Pradhan and Rebecca & Ethel. The occasion was also marked by felicitation of the gallantry awardees and veer naris.
