Assam Rifles flag off tour for women of Phek

On the occasion of International Day of Rural Women, Commandant of 38th Assam Rifles, Phek Col Prasant Singh Chundawa flagged off a National Integration Tour for women of Mothers and Widows Associations of Nagaland from Phek-Delhi on October 15 from Phek town.


According Assam Rifles source, 16 women from Mothers and Widows Associations were part of the tour, which was organised by Assam Rifles Phek battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North).


The tour was aimed to provide opportunity to the women of Widow Association and Mother Association of Nagaland to venture beyond the North East region and explore various inspirational and renowned institutions reminiscent of the rich traditional and historical heritage and experience the luxuries of metro cities to commemorate bonhomie and eventful civil-military association.


The tour would incorporates interactions with national dignitaries and visits to monuments of national importance like India Gate, National War Memorial, Red Fort and Taj Mahal among others. The women will also be given an opportunity to travel by metro train, visit to airport and shopping in malls and famous market places of New Delhi. The tour will give them an exposure to experience a kaleidoscope of metro life experiences, modern infrastructure, open new horizons for them to new opportunities of urban metro cities in India and bring about positive changes in their lives outside of their home state.
