Assam Rifles hold wreath-laying ceremony

DIMAPUR, JUL 13 (NPN)

All ranks of 24 Assam Rifles came together to honour a fallen hero Subedar Tuk Bahadur Pun on July 13 for the supreme sacrifice he made during a fierce encounter with insurgents when the battalion was deployed at Moreh in 2007.
A press release by IGAR (N) stated that in a poignant wreath-laying ceremony held at the Battalion Headquarters marking the 19th anniversary, Commandant 24 AR paid homage to the brave soldier who laid down his life protecting the sovereignty of the nation.
The ceremony was marked by laying floral wreaths with full military honours followed by a 2-minute silence in memory of brave soldier.
The soldier, who hailed from Nepal is remembered not only for his battlefield resolve but also for his compassionate nature and unwavering commitment to his comrades. His act of bravery inspires young soldiers even today. He has been a mentor and inspiration for every soldier. Residents in Longding, many of whom have lived through years of unrest, poured in with garlands and handwritten messages of gratitude.
The gathering stood united in remembrance, reaffirming the commitment to uphold the values of duty, honour and sacrifice. All ranks of Assam Rifles joined in expressing their gratitude and solidarity towards fallen soldiers.
