Assam Rifles organise ‘Fit India Freedom Run 6.0’

DIMAPUR

As part of the nationwide Fit India Movement initiated by the Government of India, Assam Rifles conducted the “Fit India Freedom Run 6.0” at Chieswema, Kohima district on October 16. The event saw enthusiastic participation from Assam Rifles personnel and local school students.
Organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MoYAS), the initiative aimed to promote regular physical activity and foster a culture of health, discipline and wellness. The event commenced with a spirited flag-off ceremony, followed by a scenic run that brought together uniformed personnel and young students in a display of unity and teamwork.
A brief address during the event underscored the importance of physical and mental fitness, balanced nutrition and active living as key components of a healthy lifestyle. The participants’ energy and commitment reflected their dedication to personal well-being and nation-building.
The event concluded with a collective pledge to uphold the values of fitness and encourage others to prioritise health.
Senior journalist Abhijit Majumder visits Centre of Excellence honouring Capt N Kengurüse, MVC: Senior journalist and social commentator Abhijit Majumder visited the Late Capt N Kengurüse, MVC Centre of Excellence and Wellness at Chieswema, Kohima district on October 16. The Centre, established through a Memorandum of Understanding signed in May 2022 between Assam Rifles, Axis Bank and the National Integrity and Educational Development Organisation (NIEDO), serves as a residential coaching facility for NEET, JEE, and IIT aspirants from economically weaker sections.
Named in honour of Capt N Kengurüse, MVC, who laid down his life during the Kargil War, the Centre stands as a tribute to his legacy of courage, discipline and national service. The initiative is logistically supported by Assam Rifles, financially backed by Axis Bank, and academically mentored by NIEDO. Since its inception, the Centre has achieved a 100% success rate, with students securing admissions in premier institutions across the country.
During his visit, Majumder interacted with students and faculty members, commending their dedication and aspirations. He lauded the collaborative efforts of Assam Rifles, Axis Bank and NIEDO, describing the initiative as a model of public–private partnership in youth empowerment and education.
