Candidates at an Assam Rifles recruitment rally held on Wednesday, at Assam Rifles Training Centre (ARTC) Sukhovi went on a rampage, vandalizing properties at the entrance of the training centre.
When contacted PRO Dimapur police confirmed about the incident and said that some of those involved in violence were arrested. PRO said that investigation was on to ascertain the reason behind the incident.
According to reports, the incident took place after some out-station candidates expressed resentment over some issues at the rally. As the irate candidates began to vandalize properties, police were called in to control them. However, the police were compelled to resort to lathicharge in order to bring the situation under control.
It was learnt that a complaint was also lodged at Chümoukedima PS.
