Assam Rifles wins NE zone inter CAPF debate

Annual North East zone inter central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) debate competition on human rights 2020 was organised at Assam Rifles Training Centre & School, Shokhuvi on August 28, wherein seven teams from NE based CAPFs and Assam Rifles participated.   

A press release from ARTC&S stated that, PJP Hanaman, member of Meghalaya Human Rights Commission, Limasunep Jamir IGP, Kohima and Bano Haralo, editor, Nagaland Today were panel of jury members. 
Topic of debate was “human rights acts as a hindrance to the security forces in performing their duties”. 
Brigadier Arjun Segan, SM, commandant, ARTC & School in his closing remarks, emphasized that people in uniform must constantly strive to adhere to the law of the land and uphold the values enshrined in constitution regarding human rights. 
28 speakers debated in Hindi and English, 14 speakers each for and against the motion. Assam Rifles secured 1st position and Border Security Forces (BSF) secured 2nd position in English language debate category. 
In Hindi language, ITBP secured 1st position and BSF secured 2nd position. Assam Rifles and BSF have been selected for English debate and ITBP and BSF have been selected for Hindi debate to represent NE Zone in semi-finals of inter CAPFs debate competition to be held at Kolkata from September 4 to 5.
