Nagaland Legislative Assembly session adjourned sine die

The 5th session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly was adjourned sine die on August 29, marking the end of a productive two-day sitting that began on August 27.


In his concluding remarks, Assembly Speaker Sharingain Longkumer highlighted the successful outcomes of the session, including the passage of six Bills on seven key subjects under Rule-48, Rule-50, and Rule-54.


He commended the members for effectively using Zero Hour to address pressing issues concerning the welfare of the people and encouraged continued participation and adherence to procedural rules in future sessions.

NLA passes six bills: The six bills which were introduced in the House on the first day of the fifth session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly were unanimously passed on August 29.


Chief minister, Neiphiu Rio moved the Nagaland Goods and Services Tax (Ninth Amendment) Bill, 2024; The Nagaland Work-Charged and Casual Employees Regulation (First Amendment) Bill, 2024; Nagaland Municipal (Amendment) Bill, 2024 and Disqualification on Ground of Defection in Urban Local Bodies Bill, 2024.


Deputy chief minister, T.R. Zeliang moved The Nagaland Road Safety Authority (Second Amendment) Bill, 2024 while the Global Open University Nagaland (Second Amendment) Bill, 2024 was moved by Minister of Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along.

Laying of reports/rules: Minister of Power, K. G. Kenye presented to the House the notification on the amendment of the “Nagaland Communication of Electricity Management in Villages by Village Councils Rules, 2002; Notification on the amendment of the “Additional Condition of Supply of Electricity to Villages, 2002 and Notification on the repeal of the “Nagaland Communitisation of Electricity (Management in Urban Areas by Urban Electricity Management Board) Rules, 2004.
