A Mega Identification and Assessment cum-certification camp for Children With Special Needs (CWSN) was held at the Conference Hall of District Hospital Kiphire, organised by Samagra Shiksha Kiphire under the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam (ABSS) project, marking the 5th anniversary of the National Education Policy 2020.
Speaking at the programme, District Education Officer (DEO) Kiphire, Chuba Aier, stated that disability should not be seen as inability, and urged parents to recognise and nurture the talents of their children. He highlighted various government schemes available for CWSN and encouraged parents to obtain proper documentation to avail the benefits.
State Inclusive Education (IE) Coordinator, Sasule, informed that the camp was part of an ongoing initiative and reiterated the importance of documentation, noting that only individuals with 40% disability are eligible under the CWSN category. Medical Officer, Dr. Tia, stressed the need for community awareness and inclusion, stating that CWSN must be accommodated in society to enable them to showcase their abilities.
