A series of assessment camps under the ADIP and Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) schemes were conducted across four blocks of Tuensang district—Noksen, Chare, Longkhim and Sangsangnyu—from August 4 to 7, aimed at providing free assistive devices to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and senior citizens.
According to DIPR report, the camps were jointly organised by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Tuensang, Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), Kanpur, and the District Welfare Office (DWO) Tuensang, with support from District Hospital Tuensang, PHC Noksen, PHC Chare, CHC Longkhim and UPHC Tuensang. Disability assessment and certification were carried out by CMO Tuensang, Dr Imlitemsu Ozukum. During the camps, PwDs were also issued Unique Disability ID (UDID) cards and educated on their rights and entitlements under various welfare schemes.
Altogether, 1120 individuals were assessed during the four-day camp—291 under ADIP and 829 under RVY. A total of 291 disability certificates were issued, with an equal number of UDID cards generated.
