
Moatsü, the premier festival of Ao Nagas was celebrated in grand manner by Ao Senso Telongjem Diphupar (ASTD) Tuesday, at Diphupar local ground under the theme “Envisioning today’s cultural values for tomorrow”.
Emphasizing on the importance of Moatsü festivals, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Limasunep Jamir (IPS) extended his greetings and asserted that the festival sought to celebrate the highest pursuit of an individual, family and village.
He pointed that the festival also directed for attainment of peace and security in the society.
Citing the book of Ecclesiastes, he was hopeful that though Diphupar had gone through a lot of pain and turmoil from the beginning of the year, it would move forward to discover, accept and appreciate God’s perfect timing as they celebrate Moatsü.
He further appealed the gathering to come together in peace, unity, mutual trust and cooperation so that “we” will be able to take the district forward.
Diphupar village council, chairman Lanutoshi Pongen pointed that Diphupar village comprise of 12 khels with more than hundred houses in each khel, with different community and tribes living together. He said that in order to maintain peaceful existence “we” needed to know, learn from each other’s culture and tradition and respect one’s religion.
Pointing out the importance of organizing such programmes, he said that it would help build unity and help the village grow in the days to come.
Further, he appealed for peace coexistence and harmony with each other.
Urban Development, advisor SI Jamir also exhorted the gathering and actively took part in the celebration.
Significance of the festival was shared by N. Tsüknung Jamir.
Various tribal community, union and organizations also took part in the celebration, expressing traditional relationship.
Various cultural activities were highlighted at the programme in the form of folk dances, folk song, traditional games and play based on folklores which was presented by Ao Kaketshir Telongjem Diphupar.
The festival witnessed hundreds of people gathered at the programme including old, young and adult dressed in their colourful traditional attire.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by ABCD, pastor N.
Lipok Jamir and later benediction was proposed by ABCD, women associatepastor, Alemla Imchen.
