ASTD concerned over state govt’s indifference towards NFHRCC

DIMAPUR, JUN 1 (NPN)

Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD) has expressed deep concern over the nonchalant attitude of the state government for continually disregarding the Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee(NFHRCC) which had indefatigably worked over 13 years for the historic Foothills Road project.
ASTD president Ningsawaba Pongen and general secretary K Tsukti Longchar in a press release claimed that the NFHRCC was driven by a vision, prayer and purpose no one else could fully see which made the project an “extraordinary project”.
Despite facing many difficulties, tough circumstances and adversities, they pointed out that the committee persevered with unwavering dedication, and today the project stood as a testament and was successfully underway.
They further claimed that the central government’s approval of loan under SASCI was due to concerted efforts of the NFHRCC which navigated the project planning.
ASTD stated that they were utterly dismayed over the persistent indifference shown by the state government towards the NFHRCC, excluding the committee in major consultative meetings, and not ensuring that the committee was informed about emerging changes in survey for demarcating right of way (ROW).
According to them, the lack of acknowledgement and support from the authorities undermined the essence of participatory governance and would hamper the progress of the extraordinary project.
They urged the government to recognise and support the invaluable efforts and initiative taken by the NFHRCC in successfully commencing the Foothills Road Project, work hand in hand by fostering collaboration with the committee to achieve inclusive development that truly reflected the aspirations of the people.
