ASU calls NSCN-K (Khango) death threat an ‘act of terrorism’

\Angami Students’ Union (ASU) has said that the “nonsensical attitude of the so called GPRN/NSCN (Khango) group” undermining human life in no way represented the aspiration of the Nagas, and strongly condemned such anti-social elements disrupting the peaceful environment in Naga homeland.

Stating that the barbaric conduct of NSCN/GPRN (Khango) had caught their attention, ASU president Khrisamhalie David Mere and general secretary Vimeyiekho Vitso in a communiqué described the threat of capital punishment on the proprietor of KKB Rülho as “no less than an act of terrorism”.

Honouring the sacrifices of national workers and revering their commitment to the Naga cause, ASU however pointed out that the dastardly act of few individuals or groups such as NSCN (Khango) tarnished the very fabric of nation-building revolutionary entities.

The union clarified that they did not shy away from endorsing the responsibility of every Naga to contribute towards the cause of a free Naga nation, but emphasised that such contribution should never be under forced taxation or on the threat of capital punishment.
In the aftermath of the incident, ASU said that Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) explored all possible means to settle the matter for good.

However, they pointed out that non-compliance of NSCN/GPRN (Khango) resulted in the non cooperation resolution of the AYO. However, ASU said that to their dismay and surprise, the statement issued by Khango group on July 30 betokened inefficiency of the group in representing the aspiration of the Nagas.

They maintained that throughout the Naga political struggle, Nagas with or without enrolling in the Naga revolutionary groups had equally sacrificed and contributed to the Naga cause. “Yet, the Khango group intimidating the Angami Youth Organisation is no less than denouncing the supreme sacrifices of our community towards the Naga political issue. It is immensely saddening that the Khango group is lacking efficient leaders who understand the essence of humanity and have notably forgotten the basic principles of being a freedom fighter,” the communiqué stated.

ASU further announced extending support and cooperation to AYO to ensure a free and just society, free from the shadow of hooligans. While condemning the atrocious act of the NSCN/GPRN (Khango), they also implored every right thinking citizens to be prepared for any call to assert their rights.

According to ASU, at a time when peace and unity was prevailing upon the Nagas, the incident had brought social unrest in Naga homeland, and that no story of justification could redeem the negative repercussions of this act. The union declared that ASU could not allow the gun culture to destabilise peace and unity among the Nagas, urging every Naga patriot to stand in solidarity.
