Angami Students’ Union (ASU) has expressed extreme displeasure over the act perpetuated against Angami Students’ Union (ASU), Chakhroma range advisor Abei Tepa allegedly by one “illegal immigrant driver”, who was purportedly “transporting a group of other immigrants.”
In a press release, ASU president Zakie Khate said this incident called for immediate action, adding that “we cannot back down under any circumstances.”
ASU said it was “equally enraged” by the insensitivity of the police handling the Chumukedima Check gate, who allegedly refused to acknowledge the complaint made by the victim. ASU has , therefore, demanded that government arrest the culprit within 48 hours, failing which it would be compelled to “initiate necessary measures which we deem fit.”
It said democratic measures would include detailing volunteers all across the National Highway to search and demand for valid documents of all immigrants.
In the event if any illegal immigrants found without proper and valid documents, ASU said they shall be dealt with, and state shall be held entirely responsible for any consequences.
