Angami Students’ Union (ASU) during the education drive conducted in June and July detected numerous discrepancies in government schools.
According to secretary education, Asato Paphino education drive was conducted to present a ground zero report of the statuses of the school through research and data collection.
She informed that 70% of the schools within Angami jurisdiction were covered during the education drive.
She pointed out that core issues included shortage of teachers, shortage of uniforms, poor infrastructure of schools and staff quarters.
ASU general secretary Vimeyiekho Vitso supplemented saying that there were about 150 government schools in 83 Angami Naga villages.
A shortage of over 114 teachers has been detected from those schools, he said.
Urging the concerned department to carry out rationalization of teachers, he assured that the ASU would cooperate with the department in this regard.
He also urged the department to introduce Tenyidie language subject in the schools under the Angami jurisdiction. He further pointed out that in a few schools where the subject has been introduced, no language teacher had been posted. Therefore, he urged the government to look into the matter.
ASU said, it would have zero tolerance on proxy teachers, transfer of posts and teachers attachment to legislators.
