ASU, ZLSU and ZYFN flay killing of 6 Nagas in Manipur

DIMAPUR: Angami Students’ Union (ASU) and Zeliang Students’ Union (ZLSU) have strongly condemned the abduction, torture and brutal murder of six Naga civilians from Konsakhul village, Manipur, describing the incident as “horrific, inhuman and barbaric.”
In a statement, ASU president, Diezevísie Nakhro and general secretary, Rajuselie Chücha stated that the victims were subjected to “agonizing physical torment” and their bodies “mercilessly mutilated and dismembered,” and termed it as a direct assault on peace and humanity.
The union expressed shock that such an atrocity could be executed and concealed in a region “overflowing with Central Security Forces,” questioning whether their massive presence was “an expensive display of state decoration or a colossal waste of resources.” It said if security forces cannot prevent prolonged captivity or safeguard civilians, their presence becomes “a grim irony.”
ASU extended condolences and solidarity to the bereaved families and Konsakhul community, while urging authorities to deliver justice and hold perpetrators accountable. It also called for wisdom, restraint and collective composure to preserve peace and stability in the region.
Meanwhile, ZLSU has expressed deep anguish and outrage over the barbaric killing of six innocent Zeliangrong Naga civilians in Manipur, describing the incident as “inhuman, cold blooded and one of the most savage acts of brutality witnessed in recent times.”
In a statement, ZLSU media cell said the abduction, torture and merciless murder of the victims was not merely the killing of individuals but a direct assault on human dignity, justice and the sacred value of life. It asserted that no grievance, ideology, ethnic difference or political agenda could ever justify such cruelty.
Condemning the act in the “strongest and most uncompromising terms,” the union said the perpetrators had displayed a level of brutality that defied all norms of humanity and morality. It further expressed shock at the reported desecration and inhumane treatment of the victims, noting that the pain inflicted upon the bereaved families was immeasurable and that the entire Naga community stood wounded by the atrocity.
Calling upon the Government of India, the Government of Manipur and law enforcement agencies to conduct an immediate, impartial and time bound investigation, ZLSU demanded that every individual responsible be identified, arrested, prosecuted and punished with the full force of the law. “Justice delayed in this matter would be justice denied,” it stated.
The union also urged all communities to reject hatred, violence and retaliation, and instead stand united in demanding justice and accountability. It said the memory of the victims must strengthen collective resolve to uphold peace, humanity and the rule of law.
Extending condolences to the bereaved families and the Naga community in Manipur, ZLSU said it shared in their grief and stood in unwavering solidarity during this darkest hour. It prayed for strength and comfort to the families and for the departed souls to rest in eternal peace.
ZYFN: Zeliangrong Youth Front Nagaland (ZYFN) has expressed shock, anguish and outrage over the killing of six Zeliangrong Naga men, who were allegedly abducted and murdered by what it described as “narco Kuki armed militants”.
In a statement, ZYFN said the incident was not merely an attack on individuals but a direct assault on humanity and the peaceful coexistence of Zeliangrong communities in Manipur.
It stated that the prolonged captivity and subsequent killing of the victims constituted a grave violation of human rights and humanitarian norms.
According to ZYFN, the six men were ordinary civilians who were unarmed and going about their daily lives when they were allegedly abducted. It claimed that the victims were targeted because of their identity and described the incident as an act that deserved the strongest condemnation from civil society organisations and the international community.
The youth body extended condolences to the bereaved families and the Zeliangrong community in Manipur and pledged that the sacrifice of the victims would not be forgotten.
ZYFN demanded that the Manipur government and central agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), initiate a swift, transparent and time-bound investigation to bring all those responsible to justice.
It further held the state administration and the Centre responsible for failing to protect innocent Zeliangrong Naga citizens, alleging that no preventive action was taken despite repeated intelligence inputs regarding rising tensions.
While reiterating its commitment to peace and inter-community harmony, ZYFN called for exemplary punishment for the perpetrators and accountability for those responsible for what it termed inaction.
The organisation also appealed to Zeliangrong communities across Manipur, Assam and Nagaland, as well as civil society organisations, women’s groups, youth and student bodies, to unite in condemning the incident. It asserted that it would continue to pursue justice through all available legal and political means.
