ATKK demands early completion of abandoned bridge at Shokhuvi

Aqahuto Tokukujo Kukami Kuqhakulu (ATKK) has appealed to the state government to complete the construction of the bridge between Shokhuvi and Pimla village, under Dimapur district, which it said had been lying abandoned since last 25 years.

In a press release, ATKK president Kakiho Achumi stated that the bridge was a lifeline for the citizens of Aqahuto area and Peren district, but expressed dismay that repeated pleas for construction of the bridge have fallen on deaf ears.

ATKK has, therefore, served an ultimatum on the government to immediately complete the construction of the said bridge.

The union said that the villages from the area have to resort to cross the river on foot in order to get access to emergency healthcare, schools and colleges and other basic facilities in town.

It said that crossing the river was posing serious risk to the lives of the local commuters.

The GBs’ union appealed to the deputy chief minister, Y. Patton, who is also the incharge R&B, and PHED minister Jacob Zhimomi to instantly take measures for the welfare of the people of the area.

ATKK cautioned that the failure of the government to take notice and take immediate action would compel the union and citizens of the area to resort to legal actions.
