DIMAPUR, OCT 4 (NPN): Matchday 4 of the ongoing Above Thirty-Five League (ATL) Cup 2nd edition delivered an exciting round of football action on Saturday, with goals flowing freely across both the Chümoukedima Football Stadium and the 1st NAP Ground. Fans witnessed thrilling comebacks, dominant performances, and a dramatic draw as teams battled for crucial points in the tournament.
At the Chümoukedima Football Stadium, Trinity Sporting edged past Old Boys FC 3-2 in a closely contested encounter. Old Boys FC made a flying start when Mhachan (#7) netted the fastest goal of the day in the opening minute before doubling his tally in the 49th minute. Trinity Sporting responded through Mangkholen (#24) in the 22nd minute. Substitute Yaksa (#13) then proved to be the match-winner, scoring twice in quick succession in the 48th and 51st minutes to turn the game on its head and secure all three points for his side. His decisive brace earned him the King Sports Man of the Match award.
In another high-scoring fixture, Nizams FC staged an impressive comeback to defeat Super Strikers 5-2. Super Strikers took an early advantage through goals from Aphrezo (#11) in the third minute and Tsuknungtemsu (#19) in the 23rd minute. However, Nizams FC fought back strongly with first-half goals from Ramesh (#5) and Khubu (#7) before taking complete control after the break. Apeina (#18), Ketho (#11) and Lem Long (#6) added further goals to seal a convincing victory. Ketho (#11) was adjudged the King Sports Man of the Match for his influential role in the turnaround.
At the 1st NAP Ground, Natak FC registered a commanding 4-1 victory over Nova Old Stars. Natak FC established control through first-half strikes by Vipekuolie (#16) and Kevisiezo (#19). Nova Old Stars reduced the deficit through Sadem (#20) in the 28th minute, but Natak FC maintained their dominance in the second half with goals from Vitouto (#18) and Nikodin (#15) to complete the win. Vitouto (#18) was named King Sports Man of the Match for his outstanding display.
The day’s final fixture produced one of the most entertaining contests, with Nizam Legends and Strikers Club sharing the spoils in a thrilling 3-3 draw. Ayu (#12) starred for Nizam Legends, scoring a superb hat-trick with goals in the 3rd, 14th, and 40th minutes and earning the King Sports Man of the Match award. Despite trailing on multiple occasions, Strikers Club showed remarkable resilience. Himato (#10) scored in the first half, while second-half goals from Eden (#6) and Aben (#37) ensured a dramatic comeback and a share of the points.
With plenty of goals, exciting individual performances, and thrilling contests, Matchday 4 added further excitement to the ATL Cup 2nd Edition as teams continue their quest for tournament glory.
