Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) conducted various activities across the state for the benefit and welfare of farming community.
Yanthamo village: ATMA Wokha organised district level exhibition cum farmers scientists interaction and farmers award programmes on May 17 at Yanthamo village covering seven villages.
A press release by ATMA Wokha stated that exhibition programme was held on various local agricultural where cash prizes were given away on all the items.
Farmers from seven villages namely Yanthamo, Niroyo, Longla, Yimkha, Longsachung, Okheyan and Nrung Longidang participated at the farmers-scientists interaction programme.
Resource persons for the programmes were, R. Santsu Kithan DAO Wokha, Medemshiba DHO & PD ATMA Wokha, Dr. Thungben Yanthan CVO Wokha, Dr. Mhalo Tungoe Asst. Technical officer KVK Wokha, Dr. Morothung Ezung VAS, Shanjobeni Humtsoe HI, Chenithung Tsanglao HI and Mhathung Odyuo AO.
In a short speech, DAO Wokha deliberated on the ongoing massive prevalence of the Fallout Army Worm (FAW) and advised the farmers present to report to the department in case of any incident found about the pest, providing printed information about control measures.
Longsa village: ATMA, Wokha block conducted one day “Kisan Ghosti” on May 18 at Longsa village. Training and awareness on fall armyworm attack in maize was conducted where farmers were asked to be aware and take needful measures during its initial stage. The technical session was conducted by BTM Wokha block, Dr. Tiatula Jamir, where details about the life cycle of the fall armyworm, identification mark of the insect, stage of the insect where the crops are attacked and point of attack was thoroughly discussed.
The second session was followed by farmers-scientist interaction programme where Dr. N. Khumdemo Ezung, senior scientist and Head (i/c), KVK Kiphire and ACTO (Agronomy), KVK, Wokha and Dr. Tiatula Jamir, BTM cleared the doubts raised by the farmers.
During the third session, a demonstration programme on insecticide/bio-pesticide dosage and spraying techniques was also conducted in the farmers’ field. The pneumatic sprayer measurement of the correct dose of insecticide/biopesticide and spot application of insecticide/biopesticide was demonstrated by BTM, Dr. Tiatula Jamir.
Wokha: One day training cum awareness programme on control of fall armyworm in maize was conducted on May 18 at training hall of the fishery department, Wokha with, BTM, Wokha block, Dr. Tiatula Jamir, as the main resource person.
Chizami village: ATMA Phek Chizami Block conducted block farmers advisory committee meeting on May 11 at council hall, Chizami village.
At the meeting, BTM, Zevoseno Rutsa explained the main objectives of BFAC and the role of its members. ATMA Chizami Block also launched a new food security group, “Thedelu Zawe Kro” with ten members on May 13.
The programme was followed by the training and demonstration on disease management at cardamom farm school.
