ATMA activity reports from across Nagaland

Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) is a society of key stakeholders involved in agricultural activities for sustainable agricultural development in the district. The agency has been involved in continual efforts to bring the latest farming technology and methods to farmers. Following are some reports from across Nagaland.

Changtongya block: ATMA Changtongya block, in collaboration with Grace Society CBR Forum (CBRF), conducted a training program on value addition to seasonal fruits for Village Disable People’s Organization (VDPO) leaders at Changtongya town on July 10.

A press release by Grace Society CBRF coordinator, Chubawati stated that, the resource persons were Temsutola Jamir, BTM Changtongya block and Moaienla, Technical Officer (TO) KVK, Mokokchung.  Altogether 31 leaders of VDPO and 6 staff including the director of Grace Society Community Based Rehabilitation Forum attended the training.

The objective of the training was to teach the members of the organization, how to preserve and make various edible items from seasonal fruits and vegetables available in their area.

Tamlu block: ATMA Longleng, Tamlu block inaugurated a “Pineapple Farm School” at Kangching village on July 19 with Methung Phom being appointed as the farm school teacher. 

A press release from PD ATMA & DSO Longleng, Ngangshimeyu stated that BTM, Moasunep explained the concept of farm schools and the role of the farm school teacher during the inauguration program. He also emphasized on the economic benefits of pineapple farming.

Demonstration on the package of practices on pineapple farming was shown to the farmers by the farm school teacher.
