With an objective to empower and skill farmers, Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) blocks conducted various demonstrations and trainings across the state. Jalukie block: ATMA Jalukie block conducted demonstration and Capacity Building Programme (CBP) on October 24-25 at Beisumpuikam Village and Mhaikam Village, Jalukie Peren.
A press release by ATMA Jalukie stated that at Beisumpuikam Village, capacity building programme on “preparation of green chilli pickle” was carried out by the resource person, Block Technology Manager (BTM) of Jalukie Block, ATMA Peren, Aola Tzudir. A demonstration on “line sowing of winter vegetable” along with capacity building on “oyster mushroom cultivation” were conducted by Assistant Technology Manager (ATM), Jalukie Block, ATMA Peren, T Moikam Phom. At Mhaikam Village, resource person, Aola Tzudir conducted capacity building on “detergent making” while demonstration on “vertical farming of winter vegetable” was highlighted by T Moikam Phom. The programmes on both the villages were concluded by ATM Jalukie Block, ATMA Peren, Vimeno Zao.
Wozhuro block: ATMA Wokha, Wozhuro block organised a farmers training programme on “Package and practices for winter vegetable crops” on October 25 at Khumtsu Village with Assistant Technology Manager (ATM), Dr. Zujanbemo Khuvung as a resource person. The resource person highlighted the importance of nursery bed preparation, sowing, spacing, integrated pest and disease management, etc. for optimum yield. Later, a demonstration programme on the preparation of organic pesticide by using chili, garlic, and ginger was conducted for use as natural pesticide for the control of various bugs and insects. A total of 16 farmers attended the programme. Mobilization of SHGs was also carried out at Tsungza Village, where the resource person highlighted the importance of setting up SHGs and explained in brief the roles that self-help groups play by making the members self-reliant, confident, and more economically empowered, thereby uplifting their livelihoods.
Longkhim block: ATMA Tuensang Longkhim block conducted training and demonstration programme on October 24 at Angangba Village. Training was organised on preparation of detergent for dish-wash by Block Technology Manager (BTM) Arenla. A hand on demonstration under package and practices for onion and field preparation for pea plant were initiated by BTM, Arenla and BTM, Anung of Panso block respectively. Altogether 10 farmers, one AFA, three ATMA functionaries attended the programme.
Ahthibung Block: ATMA Peren, Ahthibung block conducted two demonstration programmes and three capacity building programmes on October 27-28 at Vongkithem and Phaijol, Ahthibung Peren.
A press release by the block informed that ATMA functionaries, Lireni Lotha, Keneingunuo Sorhei and Kevingulie were the resource persons.
The resource persons conducted demonstrations on “seed treatment of pea (pisum sativum) with rhizobium leguminosarum and phosphatica” at Vongkithem and “bio-fertilizer application in pea and onion” at Phaijol Village, capacity building programme on “preparation of ginger candy” at Vongkithem Village and “value addition in brinjal: preparation of brinjal pickle”, and “detergent making” at Phaijol. The programme was attended by 40 farmers from both the villages.
