Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) blocks conducted various activities for farmers across the state.
Niuland: In a bid to foster innovation and sustainability in agriculture, ATMA Niuland, under Sub-Mission on Agricultural Extension (SAME) conducted a week-long skill training programme on farm mechanization was conducted between December 8-14, targeting enthusiastic youths eager to make a difference in the farming sector.
The training sessions were designed to equip participants with practical knowledge and hands-on experience in utilizing modern machinery for efficient and sustainable farming practices and generate income through it.
The training sessions were facilitated by ATMA experts and seasoned professionals in the field of agriculture and farm mechanization. Participants had the opportunity to interact with and learn from individuals with hands-on experience and a deep understanding of the evolving agricultural landscape. The resource persons were assistant tech managers, Hitokali Jimo, Mlato, Kaiho Achumi, Aketoli Chophy, and machine operator, Shikaho Sumi.
Ongpangkong North Block: ATMA Mokokchung, Ongpangkong North Block conducted various activities on December 11 at Chuchuyimpang Village. The block conducted farmer’s scientist interaction on “Good Agricultural Practices” with an objective to impart the knowledge and awareness about modern and sustainable agricultural practices to strengthen and adopt the capacities of farmers to changing circumstances aligning with the farmer’s needs. Resource persons of the training were (ACTO) Assistant Chief Technical Officer, Animal Science KVK, Yisemyong, Sarenti, Fishery Department, Mokokchung assistant inspector Neken, ATMA ATM, Nuksunginla Jamir and ATMA ATM, Tajungsola Jamir.
The block also inaugurated a farm school on fish -farming with an aim to promote farmer- farmer extension for effective transfer of agricultural technology among the farming community. I. Pangerjungba Imsong was appointed as the farm school teacher with 20 farmers as farm students.
The inaugural programme was followed by a training on “composite and integrated-fish- farming system” with Fishery Department Mokokchung assistant inspector, Neken as the resource person. Meanwhile, Ongpangkong North Block also mobilized Ten Sisters Food Security Group comprising of 10 female members from Chuchuyimpang Village. The purpose was to encourage the women farmers to take up kitchen gardening to become self-sustaining and to secure food security for themselves and their families.
