ATMA blocks organise various programmes for farmers

Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) blocks across the state have been organising training, inaugurating farm schools, conducting demonstration and carrying out field trips for farmers.

Akuluto block: ATMA Akuluto block inaugurated integrated Farm School on August 11 at Sumi Settsu village with Nikuto Sema as farm school teacher. 

A press release by the block stated that demonstration on integrated pest management in vegetables, fishery pond management and vermin-composting were also conducted at the farm school.

Training on natural resource management was conducted at Sumi Settsu village with assistant chief technical officer, KVK, Visakho, ATM, Tiarenla and BTM, Tsuktilemlam as resource persons. 

The block also conducted one day capacity building and skill development programme on oyster mushroom cultivation and field day on IPM in maize crop on August 10, at Alaphumi village. 

Shamator block: ATMA Tuensang, Shamator block conducted field day on “beekeeping” on August 11 at Yakor Village with horticulture inspector, Yonkonglimba as the resource person. 

A press release by the block stated that the resource person highlighted the importance of bee-keeping and made necessary suggestions based on their present system of practice.

Yonkonglimba advised the farmers on how beekeeping could bring about changes in their social and economic status and further urged the farmers to put more effort in their works. 

Various block activities were also carried out at Waphur Village with Yimobendang, BTM Shamator block as the resource person. Training and demonstration program include neem sheild, usage of neem oil and packages of practice on banana cultivation. A new Food Security Group (FSG) was also formed at Shamator (NAP) sector.
