Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Chunlikha block conducted demonstrations and training from August 17 to 19 at Tesophenyu, Ziphenyu and New Tesophenyu respectively.
At the programme, demonstrations on “Insect pest management in Jhum fields” were carried out by resource person ATM, Chenobu Seb ATM Sinlo Kent and ATM Kebegi Kent in the three villages.
The participants were distributed with Trichoderma, Neem oil and rodenticide to manage the pest and diseases in their fields.
Training on “Value addition to millet” was also conducted by BTM Khatemenla in Ziphenyu, where the farmers were made aware of the potential health benefit of millet.
Further, preparation of value-added products of millets like cookies and pancakes were taught to the farmers.
ATMA Peren: ATMA Peren conducted a demonstration program encompassing oyster mushroom cultivation, vermi composting techniques, and comprehensive training on pepper and areca nut cultivation, capacity building for four SHGs and field day on August 24 and 25, at Gaili and Ngwalwa village.
Resource person ATM Kibale, introduced to the farmers the art of oyster mushroom cultivation, a sustainable and high-value crop that holds immense potential for local markets.
The importance of vermi composting in enhancing soil fertility and reducing the need for chemical fertilizers was underscored at the program and hands on demonstration was conducted by ATM Shanchonthung.
Resource person BTM Lipokjungla trained on pepper and areca nut cultivation. ATMA Peren, Tening block also conducted demonstration programme along with field day on pest management on summer vegetables crops on August 24 at New Tesen village.
At the demonstration, resource person ATM Tening block Matsungtoshi N Pongener, informed the farmers to practice crop rotations, intercropping and other cultural methods to control pests’ infection and to not concentrate much on pesticides. He also demonstrated on how to use yellow sticky insect trap at a vegetable field. Meanwhile, ATMA, Tening block, Peren conducted a capacity building programme on “Raja Mirchi pickle making” for Food Security Group (FSG’s) and Self Help Group (SHG’s).
Meanwhile, on August 25, Tening block also conducted training on Biosecurity and disease management in piggery farming at Nkialwa Village. ATM Rokozhalie Namdau briefed the farmers on bio-security measures in pig farming, housing system, common diseases of pigs, care and management, vaccination, de-worming, feeds and feeding management, etc. Medicines were also distributed among the farmers. Altogether 17, farmers attended the programme.
