ATMA Wokha district organized an interstate farmers’ exposure tour to ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam Meghalaya from May 22 to 26, 2017, led by Dy. PDs’ Yanglen Jami and Subenthung Yanthan. The tour comprised of 10 farmers from all blocks of Wokha district. During the visit, the farmers were exposed to various experimental/ demonstration units viz: Horticulture, AITC cell, Agricultural Engineering, Animal production, IFS Models, Fisheries, NBPGR where explanations and interactions between the scientist and farmers were held. Farmers were also exposed to important places and stations located within Meghalaya.
Kohima: Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Kohima) organized an interstate farmers’ exposure tour from May 22 to 24. Altogether 15 members participated for the tour and visited sugarcane research station at Barulikson and MD Organic Farm, Jorhat, Assam.
Tokiye block: ATMA Tokiye block, Zunheboto organised training-demonstration and field days at Phulesheto village and Kelto village from May 11 to 12, 2017.
The topics covered were on review of schemes, concept and activities of ATMA, soil health management, POP of maize, rice, ginger, potato, animal health management & fishery management. This was followed by distribution of maize and paddy seeds and veterinary medicine. Group discussion on various agricultural practices and problems were delivered with help of village council members and GBs of both villages. The programme was conducted by a team of ATMA block members which included Tokato deputy project director ATMA, Dr. Akavi BTM, Khutovi SDSCO, Kiyeto AI and Tohevi SCA.
