ATMA Ghathashi block conducted various training and demonstration at Lazami village and Tsaphimi village from October 3 to November 4. A press release by the block stated that resource person were BTM, Y. Welson Shitio, ATM Kerilhoulie Rulu and ATM, Vivitoli I.
Demonstration on the topic “cultivation practices of onion”, with objective to make farmers aware of cultivation practices, soil preparation and pest management, was delivered by ATM Vivitoli at Lazami village, while another demonstration on the topic “Drip Irrigation Using Spike Device”, was shown by ATM, Kerilhoulie rulu at Tsaphimi village.
Meanwhile, training on the topic “Irrigation for crop production and awareness on climate smart agriculture”, was delivered by BTM Y Welson Shitio. He encouraged farmers to cope with changing of water cycle due to climatic change by adopting various technique and traditional methods of irrigation.
The block also conducted capacity building at Laza village and Tsaphimi village. Winter vegetables seeds such as coriander, turnip, broccoli, onion, peas, cauliflower and spide device for irrigation were distributed to the framers. Altogether 25 progressive farmers from two villages were benefitted from the programme.
