ATMA holds capacity building programmes for farmers

Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) blocks in Mon district organised capacity building training programmes for farmers on different occasions. 

 ATMA Angjangyang block: The block conducted the said training programme for women Self Help Groups (SHGs) on September 9 at Angjangyang village.

A press release by the block stated that the resource person BTM Nemchaba Jamir spoke on the objective of the programme. An interaction was held with the members and leaders of the four SHGs interacted wherein they were encouraged to develop competencies and skills that could make them more effective and sustainable. 

The programme was chaired by ATM Leiwang Konyak and vote of thanks was delivered by LongerkabaAo. Altogether 32 members participated in the programme.

Meanwhile, the block also conducted training and demonstration on September 7 at Changlang village wherein resource person Leiwang Konyak conducted training on cultivation practices of potato. 

Demonstration on nursery bed preparation of cabbage was also conducted by resource person Longerkaba Ao. Altogether 18 farmers benefitted from the activities and seeds were distributed to the participants.

ATMA Wakching block: The capacity building on sustainable agriculture was conducted a Wakching Chingla, on September 9. 

A press release by ATMA Mon, stated that resource person Weeniyie Yanlen, spoke on how to farm in sustainable farming ways to meet present society’s needs without compromising needs of future generation. Further, demonstration on preparation of Bordeaux mixture was further demonstrated, whereby its advantages were also elucidated. Winter vegetable seeds and mixture were handed over to 18 farmers. 

Meanwhile, ATMA Mon block conducted two-day training and demonstration on “Value addition in Naga King Chilli” and “Nursery bed preparation of Cabbage” on September 9 and 10 respectively, at Leangnyu village.

A press release by ATMA Mon block, stated that resource person BTM, Vimeno Zao discussed about importance of value addition in Naga king chilli to minimise post harvest losses and add value to produce. Process of making pickle and sauce from Naga king chilli were also discussed at length, while training materials on topics covered were given to the trainees. 

On day two, resource person BTM, Mhachamo Ngullie demonstrated on how to prepare raised nursery bed for cabbage, and shared about importance and advantages of raising seedling in nursery.
