ATMA Mon trains farmers on organic farming

ATMA Mon Block conducted training and demonstration programmes in various villages from April 22 to 24. 

A press release from ATMA, Mon stated that ATM, Khriezelhou Seyie, gave training on Vermicomposting at Totok Chinglen village on April 22 and explained how organic waste can be used to improve soil fertility and to enhance crop growth and yield. BTM, Vimeno Zao demonstrated oyster mushroom cultivation using agro waste paddy straw and banana leaves as substrate. She also shared about different types of sticky traps used in pest management based on the response of insect pests to colours. A demonstration on preparation of the sticky traps was also shown. 

On April 23, a training programme on Orange Orchard management was conducted at Totok Chingha village, where ATM, Khriezelhou Seyie highlighted the common pest and diseases of citrus plant and its management. He also explained the importance of Bordeaux mixture application and demonstrated how to prepare it. 

Altogether, around 60 participants from three villages attended the programmes.
