ATMA Niuland and Ahthibung block conducts various activities

The Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Niuland District, organized a District Level Programme on Sensitization of Farm Machinery on May 22 at Town Hall, with the aim to promote awareness on the adoption of modern agricultural technologies and enhance knowledge on pest management practices. The event was graced by Deputy Commissioner of Niuland, Sara S. Jamir, as the chief guest and accompanied by EAC, M. Kenpa,.
In her address, the DC highlighted the importance of farm mechanization to reduce drudgery and imptove productivity. She encouraged the adoption of Smart Farming and organic practices as sustainable approaches. Addressing the 30 participating women farmers, she expressed confidence in Niuland’s potential to become a hub for finished agricultural products and urged them to share their knowledge with others, creating a ripple effect within the district.
The highlights of the event were the presentation of success stories of Awardees Farmers from both district and block levels. A total of three farmers & 2 SHG group were honored with cash awards and certificates in recognition of their innovative practices and contribution to agriculture and allied.
The technical session included two sessions led by Er. Hitokali Jimo who focused on the use and management of farm machinery, highlighting the efficiency and long-term benefits of mechanization and Living Bible College, assistant professor, Dr. Otto, covered insect and pest management, with focus on eco-friendly and integrated pest control practices.
The event was chaired by ATMA Niuland, District Project Director (DPD), Avitoli K. Yeptho, keynote address by Project Director and District Agriculture Officer (DAO), Thepusa Nakro, who laid emphasis on empowering farmers with access to proper equipment, technical guidance, and training.

ATMA Ahthibung block
ATMA Ahthibung Block organized “Ginger Farm School” inauguration program at Saijang village. The event was graced by CTO, KVK James Kikon as the special guest.
In his address, Kikon encouraged, the farm teacher David and others to stay consistent in their farming efforts.
A brief discussion on ginger pest and disease management was held, and ATMA Ahthibung Block provided the farm teacher with agri inputs as a gesture of appreciation and encouragement.
During the Technical session, a capacity building program on “Value addition in Bitter Gourd” and Two Demonstration on, “cultivation practices of okra” and “Care and management of piglets.”
A joint visit to backyard piggery units was also conducted, during which the ATMA and KVK teams interacted with local farmers. Seeds of okra, soybean, long yard bean, and neem oil were distributed to the participants. Altogether 21 participated in the programme.
