Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Ongpangkong North Block conducted demonstration programme on “Pro- tray nursery of Winter Vegetables” at Settsu village on August 28.
A press release by the block informed that ATM, Tajungsola Jamir delivered hands on demonstration and also stressed on importance of irrigation and hardening of seedlings before transplanting to the main field.
Altogether, six female farmer’s attended the demonstration programme, while inputs such as pro trays, cocopeat, vermicompost, perlite and winter vegetable seeds (cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, spinach, knol khol, bok choy and corainder) were distributed to each farmer.
The release informed that another demonstration programme on “Nursery bed preparation of Cauliflower” was also conducted at Mokokchung village where resource person Watisenla Imchen gave hands on demonstration on nursery bed preparation, line sowing, spacing, maintenance, mulching, timely irrigation and transplanting to the farmers.
She stressed on cultural methods to control pest infections of cauliflower using neem oil and yellow sticky traps. Altogether four female farmers attended the demonstration programme, where winter vegetable seeds such as cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, knol khol, bok choy, spinach, lettuce, corainder and chilli were distributed to each farmer.
