Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Tuensang, Noksen block and ATMA Satoi block, Zunheboto conducted trainings and demonstrations at their respective blocks.
Noksen block: ATMA Tuensang, Noksen block organised a training, demonstration and mobilization of farmer groups from March 27-29 at Noksen Headquarters.
A press release from ATMA Noksen block stated that ATM, Selila and ATM, Limasunep were the resource persons.
The programme interactions between resource persons and the farmers and the participates were trained on various topics covering packages of practices of banana in foothills and maize, air layering techniques, farm hygiene and post-harvest management of kidney beans.
During the training, a new Farmers Interest Group (FIG) under the nomenclature “Thangjam Fig” was formed with 10 members. Altogether 16 farmers and one SHG participated in the programme.
Satoi Block: ATMA Satoi block, Zunheboto conducted a Field Day & Demonstration on cultivation of kharif crops on February 22 at Kheshito village.
A press release by ATMA Satoi block stated that on the field day, ATM, Vishepu Sumi discussed different aspects of kharif crop production technology and demonstrated for the participants, seed treatment.
After field inspection, Vishepu also apprised the farmers on the importance of soil and water conservation and encouraged them to practice crop rotation, intercropping, mulching, contour binding and terracing.
A separate programme on mobilization of FIGs, CIGs and SHGs was also conducted wherein BTM, Wellson Shitio apprised the participants on concepts and importance and encouraged them to work together to achieve a common goal. Seed money was given to Mulakivi SHG by ATMA for financing their initial start up and a vote of thanks was delivered by “farmer’s friend”, Yekato Anar.
