In response to the challenges faced by the farming community, a food security group (FSG) was mobilized on February 5 at Kandinu village, Chunlikha. The group under the name “Luchen” was formed consisting of nine farm women.
Resource person Kebegi Kent ATM, sensitized the group about the concept of an FSG and how it can help the farmers to ensure household food and nutritional security. The group was encouraged to carry out season-based farm related activities throughout the year to sustain their livelihood. Two more self-help groups were formed under the nomenclature “Mehaiwa” and “Ahaikha” in Kandinu village.
Resource persons Sinlo Khing and Chenobu Seb highlighted the role and concept of Self-help group and how it can serve the farm women to earn their livelihood by involving in agriculture related activities. The members were trained to produce organic fruits, vegetables and flowers and they were distributed with organic inputs like Tricoderma, neem cake and neem oil.
