
Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Wokha block conducted two-day training with a topic “home scale preservation and value addition” on ginger candy, ginger ale and king chilli pickle and training on “cultivation of oyster mushroom” on December 17 to 18 at Wokha and Elumyo villages respectively.
A press release from ATMA Wokha stated that, the resource persons were Thungjano (home science) KVK, Wokha, Lily Tungoe (ATM) Wokha block.
Thungjano stressed on the importance of standard packaging which adds value to the product. She also encouraged the farmers to get registration from food safety and standard authority India (FSSAI) in order to have a wide market for their products. Hands on demonstration were provided to the farmers. Lily Tungoe talked to the farmers about taking up mushroom cultivation to boost their income during lean agriculture activities period during winter. Field day visit on winter vegetable crops was also conducted at Longsachung village.
Altogether, 23 farmers from different SHGs group attended the trainings along with 2 KVK Wokha officials and 3 ATMA functionaries.
