
Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Wokha in collaboration with KVK Wokha organised six days’ training programme on mushroom production techniques for rural youths under STRY from December 7 to 12. The training was organised in association with State Agricultural Management & Extension Training institute (SAMETI) & National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE).
A press release by ATMA Wokha stated that resource person, ACTO KVK, Dr. Mhalo Tungoe Lungalung covered topics such as mushroom cultivation for entrepreneurship development, different species of mushroom, oyster mushroom cultivation, etc. Practical demonstration on oyster mushroom cultivation was also carried out with active participation from the participating youths. A field visit to poultry unit, piggery unit, fish and duck farming etc were also carried out.
Altogether, 15 youths attended training programme conducted under supervision of two deputy project director, Yanglen Y Jami and T Subenthung Yanthan.
It may be noted that the main objective of the training was to impart skill based training to rural youth on agro-based vocational areas in compliance with national policy on skill development & entrepreneurship in agriculture and allied areas to promote employment in rural areas.
