ATMAs, KVK conduct various programmes for farmers across Nagaland

Farmers advisory committee was conducted by ATMA Dhansiripar block, Dimapur district on February 22 at DAO office, ATMA training hall. 
During the meeting the convenor deliberated various benefits that sincere farmers would get through various government schemes. Altogether 17 block farmers advisory members were present where almost all of them shared and discussed various problems faced by the common farming communities in the blocks. 
After through discussions of the thoughts and problems the convenor assured them to assist them in every possible ways through technology transfer and guidance’s for achieving a sustainable farming practices. 
The meeting was chaired by ATM, Dhansiripar block Dimapur, Jess T Murry and commenced with self introduction by the farmer participants. The meeting was convened by AO & BTT convenor Dhansiripar block, Ronchamo Kikon. 
 LONGLENG: Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Longleng of Tamlu and Longleng block conducted a training cum demonstration programme on January 28-29 at EBRC hall with SMS (plant protection) E.Lireni Kikon and programme assistant (home science) KVK Longleng, Thungchano S.Ezung  as the resource persons.
During the training, the resource persons covered on mushroom cultivation, mushroom processing (steeping method), ginger processing (acidified brine solution, application of biocontrol agent as seed treatment-seeding treatment-cutting treatment-ginger treatment.
Two day training programme was chaired by BTM Tamlu block, Chubanaro Jamir and vote of thanks was delivered by BTM Longleng block, Aienla. Altogether 28 farmers were benefitted from the programme.
MEDZIPHEMA: ATMA Medziphema block conducted block farmers advisory meeting at state horticulture nursery on February 26.The main agenda of the meeting was briefed by ATM, Medziphema block, Zevoseno Rutsa. 
The need of the farmers in respect to different enterprises like agri, horti, etc. problems faced by the farmers and training requirements by the farmers based on their village needs were discussed in the meeting. The meeting was chaired by HO, BTT convenor, Medziphema block, Temsu Longkumer.
KVK Wokha: One day awareness cum training programme on protection of plant varieties and farmers’ rights was conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Wokha, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland centre on February 23, at Sanis.
The programme was condcuted in collaboration with the protection of plant varieties and farmers’ rights authority, ministry of agriculture, New Delhi under the chairmanship of, KVK Wokha, programme coordinator Dr. Santosh Kr. Baishya. 
At the programme, Dr. Baishya highlighted the importance of the programme for the farmers of the Wokha district and cited that the objective of the programme was to create awareness among the farmers about the need for the protection of plant varieties and the rights of the farmers. 
He mentioned that through the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Right (PPV & FR) Act, 2001 farmers could register and protect their plant varieties and in this regard KVK Wokha shall facilitate the farmers for their registration.
Meanwhile, Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Breeding) Bendangla Imsong, spoke at length about the nine rights of the farmers under the PPV & FR Act, the procedures and the seed requirement of different crops/plants variety for registration. 
During the programme application forms for registration were also issued to the farmers. Altogether 82 farmers from 10 villages-Meshangben, Pyangsa, Tsopo, Chudi, Yonchucho, Sunglep, Longtsung, Morokju, Pyotchu, Sanis,  and seven officials from Sub Divisional Agriculture Office, Baghty and KVK Wokha attended the programme.
Earlier welcome address was delivered by Assistant Chief Technical Officer (ACTO) Horticulture Megokhono Meyase and vote of thanks was proposed by Subject Matter Specialist (Agri. Extension) Mhalo Tungoe.
