ATMAs, KVKs conduct trainings, demonstrations for farmers

Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) and Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) have conducted various kinds of trainings and demonstrations for the upliftment of farmers across Nagaland. 
KUHUBOTO BLOCK: ATMA Dimapur, Kuhuboto block conducted training and demonstration on “Micro irrigation system” and “System of Rice Intensification” on July 25. Resource person for the programme were ATMA, Kuhuboto block ATM Ameto Yeptho, ATMA Kuhuboto block, ATM Yimobendang.
Ameto spoke on “Micro irrigation system” where he presented his slide using pico projector, emphasizing on drip and sprinkler irrigation system. Yimobendang spoke on “System of Rice Intensification” where he also presented his slide with the help of micro projector or pico projector.
In a separate programme, ATMA Dimapur, Kuhuboto block organized Block Farmers Advisory Committee (BFAC) on June 16, at ATMA training hall, DAO office.
The meeting elaborated on the different activities of agricultural extension and its allied sector under taken under the block. The members participated actively and gave their valuable suggestions for the better functioning and a good coordination under the block. Earlier, the meeting was chaired by BFAC chairperson under Kuhuboto block, Visheli and later vote of thanks was delivered ATMA, Kuhuboto Block A.O & BTT convenor Wochamo. Altogether 25 BFAC members attended the meeting.
KIPHIRE: ATMA Kiphire under P.M.K.S.Y conducted training and demonstration on soil and water management on July 27 at Zanger village, Pungro block with BTT convenor, Yamokiu as resource person.
In the training Yamokiu stressed on the importance of soil and water management for sustainable crop production and on preservation of “our” ecology. 
In the second technical session, agriculture technology manager Pungro block, Imliwati spoke on water management and briefed the gathering on water harvesting techniques, micro irrigation etc.
He encouraged the farmers to practice the methods which would help them to grow crops during dry season. Altogether 15 farmer attended the programme. 
SHAMATOR BLOCK: ATMA Tuensang Shamator block conducted demonstration programme on water harvesting and management under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sancheyee Yojana (PMKSY) on July 29 at Shamator HQ. 
During the demonstration resource person, AO Shamator, Thritiba demonstrated on construction of water harvesting structure and its management. Fishery Farm School with Showuba as farm teacher and Farmer Interest Group (FIG) was also formed at Shamator village respectively. The programme was chaired by BTM Suponglemla Chang. Altogether 23 farmers attended the programme.
JALUKIE BLOCK: ATMA Jalukie block conducted two demonstration programmes under PMKSY at Jalukie B and Old Jalukie on July 30, chaired by ATM, Lhaihoichong Singson.  The resource person BTM Jalukie block, Aola Tzudir demonstrated on agricultural water management and drip irrigation. She also demonstrated the construction of water harvesting structure for roof top rainwater harvesting.  Altogether 21 active farmers attended the programme.
KVK LONGLENG:  One day technology showcasing cum scientist-farmers’ interaction programme was organized by KVK, Longleng ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region on July 29, at KVK adopted Hukphang Village. 
Gracing the programme as chief guest, APMC Chairman Longleng Angoi Phom appealed the farmers to participate in the programme in large scale.  He congratulated the KVK for showcasing different successful technology extended in the farmers’ field and assured the Longleng farmers to help in marketing their produce.   
Keynote address on different successful technology extended by KVK Longleng in the farmers’ field was delivered by (SWCE) SMS, Dr. P. Chowdhury.  Neem Oil was distributed to all the farmers’ and training has given for its application.
The programme followed feedbacks and interaction session where farmer shared their importance of the training and queries and issues on agricultural problems were discussed. Altogether 105 farmers including farm women were participated at the programme. Later, vote of thanks was delivered by programme assistant (Home Sc.). Thungchano S. Ezung.
In a separate programme, a “rabi kisan gosthi” was organized by KVK Longleng, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region on July 28 at Yongam village with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Longleng, Y. Denngan Avennoho Phom as the chief guest. 
In his speech, the DC advocated for gender equality and appealed the Phom male to work together with their wife and children. He said Phom people should not be dependent on credit system and they should become active in farming activity. 
An exhibition followed by the inauguration of “rabi kisan gosthi” was organized for showcasing new technology extended in the farmers’ field by KVK, Longleng. 
SMS (SWCE) Dr. P. Chowdhury explained different technology to the chief guest and farmers attending the rabi gosthi. 
The programme coordinator, Dr. K.L. Meena delivered the welcome address whereas Dr. Manoj Kumar delivered the keynote address. During the Scientist-farmers’ interaction, oilseed and pulses cultivation in rice fallow, application of neem oil for insect pest management, vegetable cultivation practices, oil milling techniques, rainwater harvesting for pulses cultivation, irrigation for pulses and off season vegetables and Pradhan Mantri Sinchay Yojana (PMSKY) were discussed.  Altogether 141 farmers and 91 farm women from Yongam and 50 from Nyang village participated at the programme.  
PEREN: With an aim to boost awareness and expose the farmers to new ideas of agricultural practises on irrigation and water harvesting, ATMA Peren undertook within State farmer’s exposure tour to ICAR Jharnapani & CIH Medziphema under PMKSY on July 28.
The team led by two deputy Project Director’s of ATMA Peren visited various research farms at ICAR KVK & Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH).
The team also visited meet the farm manager and explained on different water harvesting structures and its purposes like Jalkund, cemented structured, fishery cum water harvesting tanks etc. Different methods on technique and importance of irrigation like drip irrigation, sprinkler irrigation etc was also demonstrated to farmers and highlighted the wise use of irrigation water management and explained in brief the uses to apply the amount of water needed by the crop. 
Farmers were also highlighted on four things including as know your crop, know your soils, know your water, know your field in order to improve irrigation efficiency on the farm.
Later, farmers were also taken to vermi-compost, livestock unit, floriculture unit, fruits plantation like guava and banana plantation, nursery unit, grafting etc. Altogether two ATMA officials and 10 farmers attended the tour programme.
KIKRUMA & CHETHEBA BLOCK: Kissan Ghostis and Demonstration programme on agri and allied activities was organised by ATMA Phek for Kikruma and Chetheba block on July 25 and July 26 at Phusachodu & K. Basa Village respectively. 
At the programme, an exhibition cum sale of various crops and processed products was organized where altogether 65 farmers and women SHGs actively participated. 
Resource person, KVK, Phek SMS (agronomy) Hanah K. Asangla gave a detailed explanation as well as practical demonstration on nursery raising on vegetable crops.
Meanwhile, resource persons KVK Phek, SRD Potsülü Theluo, demonstrated on dish was gel making as well as detergent making keeping in mind the economic interest of women SHGs and also for own individual use as both the products are easy to make and cost effective too. Later, the programme followed BFAC meeting for both the blocks.
In a separate programme, Rüza Farm School (RFS) sponsored under PMKSY was inaugurated on July 27, at Kikruma village. The programme was organised by ATMA Phek Kikruma block. 
At the inaugural programme, resource person FD District Fishery officer, Phek Dzuthoru Chotso conducted training and demonstration. Altogether 27 farmers attended the programme. The programme appointed Zanehü Tunyi as farm teacher.
Demonstration cum inauguration of farm school on ‘water harvest management’
KOBULONG BLOCK: ATMA, Kobulong block, Mokokchung conducted demonstration on low cost water conservation for seasonal crops and inaugurated a farm school on “water harvest management” at Yimchalu village on July 28 with SCA, Mokokchung, Longkaba as the resource person.
He briefed on the importance of making low cost water conservation tank in the field and preserving the water especially for winter crops cultivation during winter season when there was scarcity of water. He further explained and demonstrated on the procedures for making low cost water tank structures.
BTT convener, Dr. Aoyimsen discussed with the farmers on the importance of farm school and encouraged them to work hard for better result in farming process. ATM, Kobulong block, Moanaro also briefed the trainers about the concept of farm school. Altogether 28 farmers attended the programme. Earlier the programme was chaired by ATM, Kobulong block, Nuksunginla.
