The auditions for Miss Dimapur 2023 organised by Ethnic Group of Nagaland (EGON) commenced on Friday at Hotel Acacia, Dimapur.
Addressing a press conference, show director, Nise Meruno, informed that the finale of the beauty pageantry would be held on October 21, at Tetseo College.
On a query to number of contestants at the event, he informed that around 10 girls were screened for the first day, adding that online screening would also be considered for those interested and expressed hope to have 16 contestants for the finale.
Asked on the prize money, Meruno informed that winners would be awarded Rs. 50,000, Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 20,000 to winner, first runners-up and second runners-up respectively, along with citations and gift hampers.
It was also informed that Miss Dimapur 2023 would get direct entry to Miss India Quintessential, to be held in Delhi on December.
Meruno further regarded pageantry competition as a wonderful opportunity for young girls to voice out their opinions, which also provides them the courage to step into different fields.
He noted that they wanted to alleviate the standard for beauty in the state, while also has the vision to uplift Naga girls to the national and international level.
Meanwhile, president EGON, Ledia Awomi, emphasized that contestants would be encouraged to actively get involved in community projects and initiatives that address real issues and make positive impact for overall development of their society.
She urged all contestants to step out of their comfort zones and consider participating in such pageantries, asserting that it is not just a beauty pageant, but an avenue for personal growth and opportunity to contribute positively to society.
